Tony’s Steaks & Seafood, 110 W. Washington St.
Here you have a dining room with 120 seats, along with two bars, two wine walls and a wine room. If you’re just in the bar, you can still order a pair of prime rib sliders for only $16.
Get to the dining room, and your options are even greater. You can go with the 12-ounce barrel cut filet for $76, and for $64 you can get the tomahawk veal chop with lemon caper brown butter. Another great option is the order for Guinness-braised short ribs for $55.
And as for seafood, you have to try the jumbo lump crab cakes with the mustard aioli and hot smoked paprika. At just $24, it’s a nice addition to your steak.
The Capital Grill, 40 W. Washington St.
Located on the same street as Tony’s Steaks & Seafood, this particular steakhouse is inside Conrad Hotel. Along with the world-class wines and the fresh seafood, you can go with the steaks here that they’ve dry-aged for 18 to 24 days.
On your first visit here, you have got to try their signature bone-in rib-eye. It comes with a porcini mushroom crust and a balsamic vinegar aged for 15 years. That’s one heck of a dinner.
If you’re here for a casual yet filling lunch, try the lobster and crab cake burger. It features a 6-ounce patty on a bun, and it’s even served with truffle fries. Another option is the Cobb salad with sliced tenderloin and mustard dressing.
St. Elmo’s Steak House, 127 S. Illinois St.
The place is an institution, as it’s been around since 1902. It’s famous for its giant steaks, along with their excellent chops and seafood. For drinks, you can try out the Elmo Cola, but keep in mind that their wine cellar stocks up to 20,000 bottles of wine. And there’s also the legendary shrimp cocktail that’s heavy with horseradish.
Go up the stairs to the Lounge, and there you can find reasonably priced filet, wagyu, fried shrimp, pr spicy meatball sliders. Another option you should sample is the grilled bacon glazed with root beer.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House, 45 S. Illinois St., Circle Centre Mall
Yes, it’s in the mall. So what? It recently got itself enhanced with a budget of $2 million, and today, it’s better than ever. The cool, urban atmosphere is fantastic. What’s more, it’s a Ruth’s Chris Steak House—the brand has been synonymous with excellent steaks for years now, and probably for years to come.
Prime 47 Indianapolis, 47 S. Pennsylvania St.
The “47 Indianapolis” in the name indicates its location. And as for the “Prime”, it’s because all the cuts of steak here are prime as well. That goes for the dry-aged Kansas City strips, the Delmonico rib-eyes, and the Wagyu.
The wine selection here is fantastic, and it was even recognized by Wine Spectator from 2017 to 2020. Along with the steaks, you should also try the lamb, which they serve in the form of lollipops with mustard tarragon cream.
