Las Vegas being the Sin City where you can easily fall into a sinning pattern, diet-wise, you can bring home a few pounds to your body and a few inches to your girth as souvenirs. Your dieting goals may not even be part of your plans especially with the abundance of all-you-can-eat buffets, such as The Buffet at the Bellagio. Fortunately, you will be able to resist the temptation to overindulge amidst an atmosphere of excess by keeping these tips in mind.
Come Prepared to Enjoy Without Overindulging
There’s a fine line between enjoying the culinary goodness set out in buffets and overindulging in the food and drinks offered. You can stay on the side of enjoyment by coming to Las Vegas as prepared as possible by:
- Bringing along a few of your healthy food, such as oatmeal packets, protein bars, and trail mix, to name a few. You will be less likely to overeat at a brunch buffet when you have already eaten a small bowl of oatmeal.
- Packing your workout gear. You should include the locations of gyms in Las Vegas when looking for the places to stay, eat and enjoy since you have to burn the calories consumed at the buffet. You must insert at least 30 minutes each day into working out.
The more prepared you are against the excesses of the Sin City, the better you will be able to resist its temptations.
Go for the Healthy Food Choices
Every buffet in Las Vegas has its salad bar as well as cuisines with healthier food choices, such as Japanese dishes with their heavy emphasis on fish, seafood, and vegetables. You should ideally fill your plate with these healthy dishes and then place a few treats to satisfy your cravings, perhaps also one or two desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Don’t worry if and when you are so tempted to head straight for the rich Italian dishes because you are, after all, entitled to an occasional treat. Just make sure to emphasize “occasional treats” to still be within your daily caloric requirement; occasional can mean just twice in your one-week stay in Sin City.
If you are with friends or relatives, you can also find a dieting ally with whom you can be each other’s support system. You don’t have to be obnoxious about it with the other members of your book, however, but it pays to have somebody who has your back.
